Pencil eyeliner, hairspray, and teasing combs came out to play for Emo Prom. A bar and music venue in Muncie, Indiana, Be Here Now brings in a variety of musicians of different genres, but tonight, the emo kids were taking over.

stop.drop.rewind’s set sounded like nostalgia, playing covers of classics like “Cute Without The E” by Taking Back Sunday and “I’m Not Okay” by My Chemical Romance, as well as originals of their own. DJ and Kris put on an awesome show, taking requests and absolutely killing it with their acoustic set. The bar was steadily being filled with black skinny jeans and band tees.

The energy started off great and continued to amplify as drinks were poured. Everyone was dancing and singing along, reminiscing on their Myspace playlists. It was the high school prom we all dreamed about, slow dances and all.

Later in the evening it was time for the most anticipated moment at any prom. Volunteers for prom court stepped forward, not being divided by king or queen, but by Fall Out Boy Emo or Panic At The Disco Emo. Everyone looked incredible, but only two could claim royalty (and a free drink.) Some attendants were in their prime in the MySpace era, others too young to have experienced it, but everyone brought their top eight, or their dog.
