Within the first month of the year, Chicago-based band Fredo Disco released a new single with an accompanying music video entitled “Harmony Korine (The Game)” to set the tone for the upcoming year for the band.

The song begins with a soft guitar but just as the lyrics start the bass, drums and electric guitar come in. The upbeat tone of the music makes the song extremely promising for live shows. The rhythm and melody bring an energetic feel perfect for dancing and letting loose.

The lyrics of the song don’t necessarily match up with the energy of the song, but are still packed with meaning. From the opening lines of “I‘ve been thinking about death a lot and how strange it must be to play the game for fifty years or so then disappear completely” to the relatable chorus “I understand that I’m a mess but I’m not ready to address it yet.” the song is 4 minutes of catchy lyrics and banging riffs. With some harmonizing backing vocals to add depth to certain parts of the song, “Harmony Korine (The Game)” is a banger.

The music video is based on the game of life with the members playing pieces in a car. Cards saying things like “go to college” “drop out of college” and “get married” appear on the screen matching well with the meaning of the song. “Harmony Korine (The Game)” is about not knowing what life is about and trying to figure out what to do. Using a light and fun commonly known game could help connect viewers to what the song is about.

Overall, the song is proof that Fredo Disco are on the rise and 2020 will be a big year for them. They actually got permission from the actual Harmony Korine to name the song after him. The band is about to embark on tour with Young Culture, Selfish Things and Have Mercy where you can hear “Harmony Korine (The Game)” live! You can listen to it on all streaming services now.
