Pink Haze is an EP released on June 28,2019 by the Hypnotic NYC-based band, EXNATIONS.

“Tether” is the first song I heard on the EP. The very beginning had me hooked. The singer’s voice is so strong and beautiful. We were about a minute in, and the song takes on a much different feel. The feeling the song brings on makes me want to dance for hours on end. This track gives me the exact same feeling that every 90s high school dance scene gives me — nostalgic bliss.

“Floating on a Pink Haze” is the next song I was introduced to on this EP. The simple beat at the beginning layered with the voice makes me dream of this on a movie soundtrack. We all know the particular scene where the main character has their hand out their car window as it rides the wind. That is the scene this song would fit so well with. This song is beautiful, and makes you want you to want to nod your head to it endlessly.

“John Hughes Movie Soundtrack” is a song that is very true to its name. Every beat kept me enchanted, and made me feel “Pretty in Pink”. It is an incredibly fun song to enjoy the moment in.

“Slow Erosion” is incredibly hypnotic, and made me feel as if it deserved to be placed on the Twilight soundtrack. The beat being steady and rhythmic with the voice being so calm is what made it truly special to me.

“Modern Kids” is the type of song I would dance to. It’s a captivating track that I found so unbelievably beautiful to listen to. It very well will end up on my cleaning playlist.

“Dreaming Still” has a slow beginning that draws me in. It’s the voice itself that captivates me. As I listen along, I’m swaying — and then I hear the lyrics. A voice like this, conveying something so sad but still making me sway along, is special.

This EP is so hypnotic to listen to. They so easily disguise songs that have the potential to be sad by context with light-hearted and calm instrumentals. Every song drew me in more and more as I listened on. I will be checking out their past music and any future releases. Consider me impressed, EXNATIONS!
