On June 27, Irving Plaza came to life as The Cab made their long-awaited return to New York City for the sold-out first night of their two-date stop on the Back From The Dead tour.

Over a decade has passed since The Cab last set foot in New York City, with their previous NYC show taking place in 2013. In the years that followed, the band spent their time quietly on hiatus. However, as many beloved bands from the early 2010s have found their way back into the spotlight, The Cab chose the perfect moment to rise again. The first signs of life arrived in 2025 with the release of their EP, Road to Reign: A Prelude, paving the way for their latest album, Chasing Crowns, released 14 years after their last album, Symphony Soldier.

Despite some member changes over the years, lead vocalist Alexander DeLeon, guitarist Chantry Johnson, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Alex T. Marshall, bassist Joey Thunder, and drummer Dave Briggs took the stage with one thing to prove: The Cab is alive, well, and ready for their next chapter.

Staying true to the theme of the tour, The Cab delivered a setlist that showcased every era of the band, opening the night with “Locked and Loaded,” the first single from their newest album, Chasing Crowns, followed by a nostalgic fan-favorite, “Temporary Bliss.” By the third song, “Back From The Dead,” it was clear this tour was more than just a comeback.

Each song elevated the crowd’s energy to new levels as fans enjoyed tracks like “Bad,” “Stand Up,” and “Intoxicated,” along with songs they thought they might never hear, like “Vegas Skies” and “I’ll Run.” Keeping the celebration going, The Cab performed a medley of early 2000s hits, including “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” “…Baby One More Time,” and “It’s Gonna Be Me.”

The night also featured a few surprises, as Cassadee Pope, former Hey Monday singer and 2012 winner of The Voice, made a special appearance for “Take My Hand,” while Paradise Fears’ lead singer, Sam Miller, joined the band for the “last song of the set,” “Living Louder.”

The night was far from over, as The Cab returned for a four-song encore, beginning with a cover of “YUKON” before moving into the throwback “One of THOSE Nights,” a personal favorite. The encore continued with “Endlessly” before the band closed out the night with perhaps their most popular hit, “Angel with a Shotgun.”

Although the night felt surreal, one thing was certain: fans witnessed the resurrection of The Cab. While there is no telling what may come next, the energy inside Irving Plaza proved that their story is far from over, leaving fans hopeful for everything still to come.
