On Friday, February 17th, I got to celebrate a long week with a particularly exciting show. The MET in Philadelphia hosted a lively performance by Subtronics. The community at EDM shows are always a delight and this show was no exception. Surrounded by the most lovely and supportive crowd, compliments were passed back and forth between complete strangers that gathered in a collective moment of anticipation. It’s always a pleasure to attend a show where no one is treated like a stranger to the crowd; everyone is collectively celebrated for their glittery makeup and rave attire.

The multiple openers did a phenomenal job of building up the energy for the rest of the show to come. The moment Subtronics took the stage, the crowd became an absolute frenzy of movement. That familiar feeling of bass vibrating the floor overtook the entire venue. The barricade wasn’t still for even a moment as the crowd was headbanging and thrashing to every song. Subtronics started off strong and only continued to build off of the energy of the room.

Never unaccompanied by the most mesmerizing visuals, the stage entranced the crowd in technicolor movement and strobe lights. Each song mixed beautifully into the next and the lights continued to wow the audience. If you’re a fan of Subtronics or EDM in general, the Antifractal tour did not disappoint in the slightest. This was a show to absolutely not be missed.
