Slow Joy performed on the Real Friends Forever and Ever and Ever and Ever Tour, stopping in Richmond, Virginia on November 19th at the Canal Club.
Esteban Flores, an Alternative-Rock artist based in Dallas, released his first EP Mi Amigo Slow Joy in June this year. He has amassed 100,000 Spotify monthly listeners and has gained millions of streams of several songs on the platform. Mi Amigo features four tracks with “Pulling Teeth” gaining massive popularity on TikTok and currently has 1.5 million streams on Spotify.
Flores was excellent on the Real Friends tour. He was humorous, engaging with the crowd during his set. At one point, he said “We’re here to warm you up before the other bands come out here and melt your face off”, and he did more than that.
Slow Joy gave an incredible performance. He was active and vibrant and energized the crowd for the rest of the night. He played an amazing set with songs such as his 2022 banger “Crawling” and even a new song “Wound” which is yet to be released. Slow Joy has an incredible and unique voice that holds an emotional weight, felt across the venue. Slow Joy ended his set with his hit song “Pulling Teeth”, filling the venue with his beautiful Alt-Rock sound, which was incredible live with the addition of his friends on bass and drums. As he sang out the repeated chorus of the song: “I bet you’re sick of pullin’ teeth/But hold me down ’til I believe/That I’m okay, that I’m okay”, the crowd sang with him, feeling each word as the final notes were played.
As the set came to a close the concert-goers were invigorated, ready for what was to come the rest of the night. Slow Joy was fantastic and I will make sure to see him again the next time he tours.
