In celebration of the 20th anniversary of their album, The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance is hitting stadiums across North America for their “Long Live”: The Black Parade tour. Their first stop in Seattle featured an opening set by The Violent Femmes; however, each stop of the tour will have a different opening act.

With it being the first day of the tour, everyone went in not knowing exactly what to expect in terms of the production. Without spoiling too much for anyone attending the upcoming dates, it was essentially a two-for-one concert. The first portion was a theatrical performance by MCR as The Black Parade, complete with pyrotechnics, an audience vote, and The Black Parade album being played in its entirety.

This was followed by a brief intermission featuring Clarice Jensen playing a hauntingly beautiful instrumental piece on the cello.

After the intermission, My Chemical Romance returned—this time in more casual attire—for a second set on a smaller “b stage”. They played a variety of songs from throughout their career and, according to frontman Gerard Way, this second setlist will likely include different songs for each night of the tour.

By the end of the nearly 3 hour long performance, I doubt that a single fan left the stadium disappointed in their experience. I think I can safely say that this is one tour that nobody will want to miss.
