Irving Plaza was packed to the absolute brim on Friday, September 30, where MUNA kicked off a sold out three night run at the storied venue with a high-energy, celebratory, uplifting, and–let’s not kid ourselves–undeniably hot performance.

The electro-pop trio is on tour through November to support their third studio album, MUNA, which was released in June of this year. The self-titled record is the group’s first album as independent artists after signing to Phoebe Bridgers’ label Saddest Factory Records in 2021, and features a track with Bridgers herself, “Silk Chiffon.”

For those uninitiated, MUNA is known for turning their concerts into celebrations of queer love, for all the messiness, heartbreak and healing that that entails–but even more so for the joy, and it was those joyful moments, namely during “I Know A Place” and the final song of the night, “Silk Chiffon,” that made the night.
