Walking into Healer for the first time is like a nostalgic dream. Before I walked into the diy venue for the first time, my best friend shouted at me “you have to come inside! Whatever it is you are expecting, it isn’t this!” She could not have said it any better.

As you walk in you are greeted with so many oddities, you can’t take them all in without browsing the entire venue. It has many separate rooms with different themes, such as “The 90s Room.” It is a venue that is not comparable to any other venue I have stepped foot in. It was the perfect venue for Karma Kids to have a release show for their first album, American Mind.

Setting Color started out the night with some upbeat pop punk music, including their newest single, “Failure With Time.” The breaks in between sets that most show-goers use for a quick smoke were filled with all kinds of excited comments about different rooms and the decor at Healer. There were people running from room to room with their friends like excited children, myself included. The energy radiating throughout the entire show made it impossible to not have a good time.

I Fight Fail followed Setting Color, with a smoky and colorful stage set up that included neon lights and fog. Following I Fight Fail was an Ohio band that is currently touring with them called Morning In May. Their energy was incredible. They had everyone in the room singing along to their cover of “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga.

As the evening came to an end, Karma Kids finally made their appearance on stage. Everyone was hyped to see their work come to life on stage. This would be their first time performing songs from their new album, including “Hypochondria,” “RX,” and “Hive Mind.” Dystopian Dream, Pt. One:American Mind,  is 47 minutes long with 13 different songs, one of the 13 including a featuring artist as well. It is now available on all major platforms.
