On Wednesday May 10th, Daisy the Great took the stage at The Foundry in Philadelphia. The crowd was filled with primarily college aged fans who were delighted to dance and sing along. Opening the show, indie artist, Olive Klug, put on a lovely solo acoustic set with a sweet softness in nature. Following a heartfelt performance, Daisy the Great came on earlier in the evening since the other opener for their All You Need Is Time Tour, Shannen Moser, was unable to perform at the show that evening. Even missing a set from an incredibly talented act, Shannen Moser, Daisy the Great put on an amazing show that did not leave the crowd disappointed.
With dreamy vocals and groovy guitar, Daisy the Great kept the set vulnerable yet lively. Harrowing and relatable lyrics to songs like “Tell Me Have You Been Dancing” kept a unique intimacy within the venue. Seeing the younger crowd sing along to pained lyrics while swaying to the beat was a captivating display of connection between the artists and their fans. While being on different sides of the stage barrier, there was a closeness in the room between everyone that was warm and comfortable to be a part of.
The connection between Daisy the Great and the crowd was not only created through the painfully beautiful soundtrack of the evening, but also through friendly banter. Daisy the Great shared the fun experience they had as a band creating handmade zines they were selling at the merch tables which included almost impossible crosswords and mazes. The humor that the artists expressed through this creative process was so friendly and inviting in nature making the merch they offered so much more personal.
Closing with an unforgettable encore of one of their most viral songs, “The Record Player Song,” the band put on a sentimental show to remember.
