On October 19th, Charli XCX and Dorian Electra found themselves at Union Transfer, met with a sold out show and over a thousand fans ready to have the best night of their lives. If there’s anything Philly music lovers adore, it’s a party. And lucky for them, putting on an insane show is one of the many things Charli and Dorian are wonderful at.
Union Transfer was the perfect venue to host this show, first and foremost. It’s large enough so that plenty of fans get to experience the show, but intimate enough that there feels like a genuine connection between the artist and the audience.
Dorian Electra took the stage first, and wow — I have never seen a better opener. The way the crowd immediately began singing and dancing along to Dorian’s music was amazing. Performing alongside two dancers, Dorian was able to command the stage effortlessly. Their stage presence is a sight to behold. I can say without a doubt that Dorian Electra put on one of the best sets I’ve seen all year.
Charli XCX also did not disappoint. Performing a perfect mix of new tracks and older hits, Charli kept the energy up all night. Just when you thought the excitement in the room couldn’t get any higher, she brought out a handful of performers onstage alongside her to drive the crowd wild during “Shake It.”
Between jumping into the barricade to sing with the crowd, to the outfit changes and top-notch showmanship, Charli XCX has absolutely won the title of being one of the best pop stars alive. She put on a show unlike any I had ever see, and I’m looking forward to seeing both her and Dorian Electra the next time either of them find themselves in Philly.
