The Midwest Princess herself, Chappell Roan, sold out Orlando’s The Beacham on October 25.
Each night of her current headliner celebrating her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, features a theme inspired by the album’s songs. By the time doors opened in Orlando, a hoard of angels and demons circled around the block, dressed for the night’s track, “Guilty Pleasure.”
The show was a dazzling and danceable event from beginning to end. In lieu of an opening band, local drag performers Myki Meeks, Dominink, and Georgia Up In Space got the party started with energetic performances that had the crowd singing along.
Chappell Roan appeared onstage as an angel in a haze of pink light, to the cheers of her adoring crowd. She powered through a 15 song set, giving an incredible vocal performance all while dancing and jumping across the stage. The set was joyful and celebratory, but Chappell also took the time to address the discrimination that has been happening against the LGBTQ+ community in Florida and to create a safe space for her fans.
If you’re just now being introduced to Chappell Roan, don’t miss the opportunity to see her in more intimate venues while you still can. With continuing sold out dates of her headlining tour and an opening spot for Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming run for Guts, it’s a matter of time before The Midwest Princess becomes Queen of the World.
