We are all experiencing new and weird changes in life due to the current pandemic. By what I believe was a coincidence Yungblud has dropped his latest single, “Weird!” In this latest single Yungblud shares the difficulties he’s dealt with recently, he fell in and out of love, he nearly lost his mother and has been dealing with his mental health.

“Weird” is a track that everyone can relate to right now. This single was written before the pandemic, yet it easily relates to everyone right now. Everything feels a bit up in the air, no one is certain about many things right now. Yungblud does an amazing job of capturing the feeling of discerning the maze that is life with the new restrictions. Everything is weird.

For Yungblud this song was his way of expressing the constant changes and phases we go through in life that help us create and find who we are. This song is speaking to the anxieties you may be feeling, but has an optimistic rhythm to it. “Weird” will have you feeling a bit nostalgic, you can feel the hopefulness that Yungblud is identifying. Yungblud is telling his audience that your situation may be difficult right now, but it will eventually be alright.

This single is absolutely bursting with ‘80s ringing nostalgia and an early 2000’s electronic sound. In the music video for “Weird” we’re confronted with bright tie-dye colors and crazy visual effects, which definitely gives off the feeling of an ’80s possibly ‘90s new music video for MTV. The tie-dye colors are used as a way to express the feelings of happiness and that everything’s going to get better. The music video starts off with Dominic Harrison in bed seeming to be in a bit of a rut, but as the video continues you can see him attempting to enjoy the situation he is in. Which is what we are all currently trying to do, constantly trying to live with and enjoy the situations life continuously puts us through.
