The Second After’s latest single, “Riptide,” is an upbeat song that discusses something that most people have likely experienced at some point in their life.

With lyrics such as “so here’s to another day spent wasting good intentions” and “I’m stuck and the cycle never ends,” The Second After depicts a situation in which you feel stuck in a specific pattern; despite trying over and over, you can’t manage to overcome the feelings of monotony.

Instrumentally, “Riptide” starts out full of excitement and energy and maintains those levels throughout the entire song. “Riptide” also manages to be slightly reminiscent of Blink-182, but at the same time, The Second After have their own style that’s clear on every track they release.

I haven’t been disappointed by this band yet, and after hearing this song, I think it’s safe to say that that cycle will never end.
