With a delicate and atmospheric sound, Amber Bain, better known as The Japanese House, brings a treat to listeners’ ears with her newest single, “Chewing Cotton Wool.” Being her second single since her critically-acclaimed debut album in March, this track is an incredible follow-up to “Something Has To Change,” released in September.

“Chewing Cotton Wool” allows Bain’s vocals and lyricism to take center stage. With lines like “She’s inside every crack, she’s the only thing in sight,” Bain tells a story that tugs on the listeners’ hearts. Accompanied by an atmospheric instrumental and soothing, somber vocals, this track from the new era of The Japanese House is sure to echo through your mind as you keep it on repeat.

The Japanese House’s sound is unique. Through a blend of dreamy indie pop and powerful, light vocals, alongside vulnerable lyrics, Bain has been able to create something special and unseen before from this genre. If “Chewing Cotton Wool” is any indicator of what is coming up next from The Japanese House, then we’re excited to see what she has in store.

Bain’s forthcoming EP is due to be released in early 2020 on Dirty Hit. For now, you can stream the dreamy, transcendent track below.
