The Home Team has hit another home run with their latest single, “Hell” which is part of their newest EP, Roommates // Overtime. The track follows the band’s other two singles on the EP, “Brag” and “Loud.”

The track is reminiscent of alternative-pop and funk songs from the early 2000s, giving hints of early Fall Out Boys during their iconic Thanks for the Memories era. Still keeping true to the funk and groove in their bass line, The Home Team has taken it up a notch and given fans a heavier chorus with an addictive guitar line.

A unique animated music video accompanies the track. Filled with nostalgic undertones, from missed Guitar Hero notes, Steamboat Willie, and a glimpse of the underworld, the track and music video tugs on the heartstrings of fans by giving us the nostalgic moments we’ve yearned for since the resurface of Y2K.

When talking about “Hell,” lead vocalist Brian Butcher said, ““Hell” is a big ‘ol’ whopping leap into songwriting territory that we’re very familiar with, but in a completely new package. This is one of those songs that we didn’t really set out to make, but just came together in a great way. We had plenty of “Aha!” moments during the process, and we ended up with a song that we’ve got a lot of faith in. We’re anticipating that this will satiate our heavy music listeners pretty well.

The band continues to elevate their unique genre of heavy-pop, drawing inspiration from classic pop-punk and metal roots while also incorporating elements of R&B, pop, and funk to authentically blend their diverse musical preferences into their distinctive heavy pop sound. These elements can be heard not only in their newest single, but throughout their five-track EP.

Fans can look forward to more new music in 2024 as they hit the studio with names like Zach Jones, who’s worked with artists like Scene Queen, Kim Dracula, and label mates Honey Revenge.
