The Big Moon is a British quartet made up by Juliette Jackson (rhythm guitar, vocalist), Soph Nathan (solo guitar), Celia Archer (bass), and Fern Ford (drums) that formed in 2014.

They released their sophomore album, Walking Like We Do, on January 10th. This is their first LP since 2017 when Love in the 4th Dimension was released.

This record moves away from the band’s debut sound, where the guitars were loud and clear, and takes direction into a pop vibe straight out of the ’90s. It’s softer and almost gentle perpetuating a feeling relatability and intimacy that their earlier work didn’t have. There’s always an exception though and in this case, it comes in the form of “Holy Roller.” Jackson told NME that “staying the same didn’t feel right, it felt pointless (…) I guess ‘Holy Roller’ isn’t that different to the songs on the first album, but lyrically it’s more specific.

Filled with synths, breathtaking harmonies, and amazing guitar riffs, Walking Like We Do gives a fresh and relatable identity to The Big Moon like never before. The songs talk about topics that we all fell whilst growing up, the love, the anger and the confusion and nervousness of it all. Although the record can’t give you the answers to your everyday problems, it’s a companion that will make you feel understood through them.
