Following a string of successful opening act sets and their own acoustic and electric tours this year, New Hope Club are on a roll – that momentum is only continuing with the double release of twin flame tracks ‘L.U.S.H’ and ‘Walk It Out.’ We were lucky enough to attend a recent press conference with Blake, George and Reece to chat all things live and what it’s like to establish their musical identity.

Having made the best of the pandemic by using their time to determine where they want to progress as a group, the boys highlighted in particular that their new era was one of exploration, introspection, and personality. They were conscious in ensuring that their upcoming second album was more honestly reflective of their individuality and our first taste of it does not disappoint. Inspired by the indie-pop stylings of the infamous FIFA soundtrack, which features many of the world’s favourite alternative tracks across the years, ‘Walk It Out’ is infused with the same dynamism and drive and would fit seamlessly into the game’s next playlist.

Complementary to the energy of ‘Walk It Out’ is the anthemic ‘L.U.S.H,’ described by the members as ‘intimidating,’ ‘urgent,’ and ‘saucy,’ respectively. There is an edge to the track that excites upon first listen, drawing us in with lyrical and melodic depth. The song itself is juxtaposed with a witty and light-hearted video – a sign that above all, New Hope Club are creating captivatingly catchy music and having fun doing it.

Looking forward, the band want to continue to challenge themselves musically and personally, calling upon their upbringings and experiences to forge new creative paths. They remain experimental, keeping their ears open to opinions and external influences but ultimately balancing this advice with gut feeling, leaving listeners intoxicated and enthusiastic for what is to come.
