The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and two-Time Grammy nominee Madison Cunningham sat down to discuss her recent album, Revealer, in a virtual press conference September 21st. The album, which was released on September 9th via Verve Forecast, features some of her singles like “Hospital,” “Life According to Rachael,” “In From Japan,” and others released earlier this year.

The album places many parts of Madison on display for people to see. She says that, to her, “’Revealer’ is the binding theme of the album.” Letting this side hang out for her fans to see and taking it with her on tour feels “funny,” as it’s a new feeling, but it’s one she’s embracing.

She explains, “A lot of people have met me there and have been like, ‘Yeah, I feel the same way about these things.’ I suppose it’s always a gamble when you put music out and you put out things that are true for you. You kind of wait to see if it’s true for anybody else and so far, that’s been the overwhelming reaction to it which has been cool to see.”

Revealer features songs with alternative and pop folk sounds that are contemplative and intimate. They are also remarkably perceptive, written with an eye toward exploring ambiguity in relationships and discovering your own truths. She describes the album as “a self-portrait of a young artist who is full of doubt and uncertainty yet bursting with exciting ideas about music and life.”

Kicking off her tour in early June, Madison is now reaching the final leg in the States, with her last tour dates being in New York, D.C., and a new date in Chicago. She will then be touring around Europe, and back in Florida by February 3rd, 2023, for the GroundUP Music Festival.
