We recently had the chance to attend Lauv’s virtual press conference and hear all about his new album All 4 Nothing, which just released!

Lauv experiments with his signature sound, bringing us something fresh and new while also expanding his range and developing as a songwriter to bring us amazing new tracks which explore his inner child.

Lauv breaks down his writing process for this new album, describing its openness, vulnerability, and realness. He says, “When I started this album, I was going through a big existential crisis, questioning everything I had and why I had it. For a long time, I thought my identity was being in-control of the creative process. But my identity is just me, and I let myself go free.” He explains that the entire process helped build his confidence, starting off anxious all the time and unable to trust himself, but through the album he let go and found his confidence within.

Through this album, Lauv has shifted his songwriting process. His lyrics show his experiences, even if they are unpolished and not as pretty, displaying his growth as a songwriter. He states “[he] tried to just literally recount whatever was going on in [his] life and not be like “well I shouldn’t put this in a song.” There is a newfound freedom from this writing process within Lauv and his music, which shines through from each song from start to finish.

All 4 Nothing is a bundle of experimental pop tracks and ballads, featuring personal lyrics that showcase the ups and downs of finding one’s inner light again and letting go of the things that hold us back from growing further. It is the perfect album to drive to or to reflect with, as each person can find a song to connect with. The album features some of his popular singles released earlier this year like “ 26,”  “Kids Are Born Stars,” and “All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love).”

Released alongside the album is Lauv’s most recent music video, “Stranger,” which can also be found on All 4 Nothing.

Lauv’s North American headline tour kicks off on August 11th with stops in major cities like New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles, and some cities in Canada.
