Pop singer HARLOE recently released her new song “Crush On You” from her upcoming EP Rivers Run Dry. The song is a testimony to the time and effort that she has put into the music industry, also showcasing her amazing vocals and lyrical talents.
“Crush On You”, although a pop song, is filled with soulful R&B tones that complement the repeating sounds of the piano and skipping percussion that fill the backtrack. Together the vocals and melody paired with the lyrics that read out like an internal dialogue post-heartbreak creates an amazing “sad” love song.
The song covers two topics within the lyrics when it comes to heartbreak: the love that sometimes still remains and everyone’s “helpful” advice post-breakup. Lyrics such as “Everybody’s lying, pain don’t heal with time // Everybody tells me ‘Move on, get a life.”” and “You’ll meet someone, I’ll meet someone // To get over us // But can I still crush on you?” Gives the listener a privy into the internal dialogue of HAROLE in regards to the not only the frustrations but also the lingering emotions that comes with lost love.
Overall, I think the single fits well alongside HARLOE’s two previously released singles (“One More Chance” and “Rivers Run Dry”), and expands on the journey of love that everyone has experienced at least once. If the rest of the EP is anything like “Crush On You”, or expands on the sound of the song itself, HARLOE will definitely be making a splash in the pop industry.
