Los Angeles based rock trio Fencer has recently announced their debut, and self-titled, album, set to be
released on February 3, 2023. Alongside the momentum of this announcement, the band dropped a
brand new single titled “Joseph Courtney.”

A gritty narrative about a boy chasing his lost balloon and later, in adulthood, chasing validation and love
from fans may not seem so relatable to most of us but the song’s sound is enough to catch anyone’s
attention. While it is similar to Fencer’s previous sound, as heard on their earlier 2022 single
“Sanitarium,” it dives a bit deeper and further indulges in their uniqueness with a bluesy rock core and
alternative, grunge undertones.

The band’s sound is extremely dynamic, and “Joseph Courtney” proves that by highlighting each of
Fencer’s members perfectly. Guitarist and vocalist, Field Cate, bring the character to life with dramatic
screaming and over the top guitar solos. Bassist Scott Sauve and drummer Cameron Sauve work
together to create a perfect foundation that makes this over-the-top character even more believable.

“Joseph Courtney” is an extremely interesting and fiery song that takes creativity to a whole new level
and allows Fencer to really shine. We can’t wait to hear more.
