Rising pop-punk star, Cameron Alexander, is keeping fans awake with his latest single, “Insomniac.”

“Insomniac,” released on March 20th, 2024, delves into the restlessness and emotional struggle behind mixed signals in a tumultuous relationship. From the instrumental to the lyrics, the track brings a fresh perspective to the classic pop-punk sound of the early 2000s that has been taking over the airwaves.

Cameron reflects on the relationship throughout the song voicing his disappointment and regret in pursuing the relationship, making a powerful claim and metaphor in his chorus with the line, “You made me an insomniac.” The line, which references the track title, pushes the point home that the actions or behavior of this person have consumed Cameron, causing him to be an insomniac with constant sleepless nights. The emotional baggage he now carries makes him wish he “just stayed home alone.”

When speaking on his latest release, Cameron expresses his excitement and purpose behind the track: “The purpose of this song was to blend elements from traditional pop-punk songs as well as experiment with more electronic elements to resemble the confusing atmosphere that the sudden end of a relationship can cause. To me, Insomniac is a rapid-fire of emotions channeled into an anthem that serves as the perfect closer to my first body of work, a triumphant cliffhanger to my life, my music, and what’s to come from both.”

“Insomniac” is a sneak peek into Cameron’s brand-new EP, Ice Blue Punk. “I’m ecstatic to finally be able to release my first body of work to the world,” says Cameron. “From the heartbreaks to the friendships that will last forever, from facing inner demons to learning to live and let go, the highest highs and lowest lows are all there in perfectly imperfect reality, and it’s all wrapped up in an angsty and anthemic package for you to jump around to.”

Ice Blue Punk is set for release on April 26th, 2024. The EP will feature five tracks, including “Insomniac” and “Time to Break Up,” released on October 4th, 2023.
