Hailing from her 2019 EP Space Cadet, beabadoobee’s track “Sun More Often” is a look into how it feels to encourage others to try new things. It’s warm and inviting, with just a dash of nostalgia. You know that feeling of your best friend telling you to go break out of your comfort zone, and it’ll be fine because they’re right by your side? That’s “Sun More Often.”
With lyrics like “If you tried you’ll see that the world’s not as scary as it seems,” this track is a gentle push in the right direction of breaking out of your shell.
Animated by Elliot Bech (@chubbypumpers), the video for “Sun More Often” explores the origin story for the alien on the cover of Bea’s Space Cadet EP artwork. The art in the video itself pairs with the feeling of the song perfectly. It’s stylized, and reminds us of vintage, hand-drawn cartoons. At the same time, though, the animation is clean and has an identity of its own. It complements the song really nicely, and seeing how the Space Cadet alien came to be breathes a newfound perspective and sense of identity into the EP.
This new music video isn’t all beabadoobee has up her sleeve, though. In the spring, the indie-rock singer-songwriter will be hitting the road on the Sirius XM Advanced Placement Tour, with support from Eliza & The Delusionals and Taylor Janzen. Soon after, she’ll be joining The 1975 on tour in the summer. In addition to these shows, you’ll be able to catch her at SXSW, Coachella, and Boston Calling.
You can grab tickets to Bea’s shows here. Below, you’ll find the video for “Sun More Often.” We really dig it, and we think you will too!
2020 belongs to BEEBADOOBEE as I wrote last year in my column HR3001 on line at http://www.peruavantgarde.blogspot.com
and indicating her freshness and talent.
