Following the release of his debut album “~how i’m feeling~”, like many artists, Lauv has found during quarantine the time and inspiration to work on new music. That’s why on June 24th he released a surprise EP titled Without You, which was fully written, produced, and recorded during the lockdown.

The record it’s made up of four songs and it opens with “Dishes”. The song references an ex and how Lauv is reminiscing of them and how he’s reminded of them around his place. Even though the lyrics feel melancholic the melody is upbeat and grows as the song plays. Lauv also releases a music video for this song the day he dropped the EP.

Followed with the relaxing and tropical beat of “Mine (You Can’t Find Love in Mollywood)”, Lauv narrates how a girl made him fall for her but ended up breaking his heart by being with a friend he was worried about and making him feel insecure. He calls her out for the mixed signals, lies, and everything that she put him through.

The second half of the EP opens up with a demo called “Miss Me”. Lauv originally released this song on SoundCloud on April 11th. Lauv expresses that he would be with this person no matter how much they play with his emotions and how much it pains him to be so smitten with them.

The record comes to a close with “Love Somebody”, an apology to someone who the singer has hurt in which he acknowledges his mistakes. With soft melodies, slow guitar-riffs and smooth drums Lauv admits he can sometimes mess things up too, even if he doesn’t mean to.

Without You is a perfect representation of Lauv as an artist with his signature sound, soft vocals, and themes of raw emotion, it’s a perfect companion to his debut record ~how i’m feeling~.
