California-based Indie Rock Band, One Outta Ten, released their junior album, Better Days, on August 9th. They have released a single from this album titled “SCREAM!!!” This quintet of college friends gathers inspiration from The White Stripes, The Beths, The Fugees, and Paramore. They are not limited to musical inspirations and draw inspiration from other forms of entertainment.
The album opens with “How To Phone Home,” an instrumental with phone ringing mingled in, and it is enchanting. It was the perfect track to open an album with because it truly set the scene for what the album would be. “Forever/Anyways” and “Better Days” are the standout tracks to me. “Forever/Anyways” feels like that track in a coming-of-age film where the main character is riding their bike down the street before finally figuring it out and starting to pedal faster. “Better Days” as both the title track and the album’s end is a rare concept, but it works well because it is a wonderful track. This album is the ideal indie rock album, and I implore you to give it a listen.
