Following the release of their newest album, FANDOM, Waterparks have taken De’wayne Jackson on the road for the first leg of the FANDOM World Tour. It wasn’t the first time Waterparks headlined the Theatre of Living Arts in Philly, but it was definitely one of their best shows in the city.

Starting off the night, De’wayne Jackson played an incredible set. Consisting of new songs like “Top Gun” and hits like “Adios,” there was something for everyone in De’wayne’s set. Having never seen him before, I was thoroughly impressed by his stage presence and his ability to hype up a crowd. Attendees of the FANDOM tour are in for a treat when he takes the stage.

Waterparks started their set with the opening track from FANDOM, “Cherry Red.” There was truly no better way to open the set; the song may be short, but it’s powerful and incredible live. Throughout their set, the band played the majority of the songs on Fandom. Fans of their previous music will be happy to hear that both “Entertainment 2019” and “Double Dare 2019” were played, as well as full versions of tracks like “Stupid For You” and “21 Questions.”

I’ll admit I was unsure about hearing the mashup songs live. I had no doubt Waterparks would be able to pull it off, but I wondered how it would compare to hearing the full songs. Truly, though, playing the mashups of their previous albums was a fantastic idea. These tracks offered fans a chance to hear setlist staples like “Take Her To The Moon” and “Not Warriors” reimagined, and deep cut tracks like “Crybaby” and “Little Violence” performed live. Medleys of songs are always a great way to add songs that aren’t typically played at shows, and it’s clear that the fans enjoyed being able to sing along to their favorites from Double Dare and Entertainment.

Overall, the FANDOM tour did not disappoint! Both Waterparks and De’wayne Jackson have vast amounts of showmanship, and know how to keep a crowd engaged all night. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you check this tour out. You can click here to purchase tickets.
